Leadership
Grant MacAlmon
Student Pastor

My name is Grant. I’m married to Nicole and the father of Brayden, Carter, Adassah, and Garrison. Since 2015, I’ve served at Mill City in various roles and have found my sweet spot working with 6th-12th grade students alongside an incredible team of adult leaders. I love reading, enjoy watching sports as a form of theater, and like playing golf and pickleball. “Nacho Libre” is probably my most-quoted movie, and Island of the World moved me to tears more than once. I’m steadfast in my conviction that we need more spiritual mothers and fathers to invest in the next generation. Having the opportunity to serve in this role while my own kids navigate adolescence is a true gift.
Ellie Brendle
Students Associate

My name is Ellie! I have been serving on staff with Mill City Church since I graduated from CSU in May of 2023 (Go Rams!). I started serving on the Students team in college, because my youth leaders in middle and high school made a significant impact in my life, and the evidence is clear: having at least a couple caring adults outside of parents is associated with higher mental, emotional, and social wellbeing in adolescents. If I can be another voice that says “I believe in you” to a student, sign me up. Outside of work, I love being in the mountains, game nights, coffee(!!), thrifting, dancing (I was a dancer growing up), and I am a playlist GAL.
Abby Lans
Worship

My name is Abby Lans, I’m 30 years old, married and a mother to 2 preschool boys. I am the Program Director for Half Step, a music based non profit ministry that uses music to connect youth to Jesus and the local church. I also work part time as an in-home CNA. I love how formative and critical the teenage years are for young people and I love being someone that can encourage them to ask the hard questions, and do the hard work of growing into who Jesus designed them to be. On the Mill City Students team, my role is cultivating a team of students who desire to lead worship for and with their peers. In my free time, I love reading fantasy, playing Spikeball, doing CrossFit and Yoga, listening or playing music, and playing with bugs outside with my boys!

I love Jesus, being a parent, kids, reading, and sports. Love to partner with you. Let me know how. Blessings!

In my spare time, I love to work out, play/watch sports, and hang out with my family.

A week after graduation, I got married to my very best friend, Gabriel May! He works for Northern Colorado Youth for Christ in Greeley, and I am a Teaching Assistant for 2nd grade at Ridgeview Classical Schools in Fort Collins. I wanted to join the Mill City Students team because I have always had a deep passion for kids and have appreciated all those who have mentored me in my faith, so I wanted to be that person to other girls! I also love the beach, photography, hiking, and spending time with friends and family! I am currently working on learning how to speak Portuguese and how to play the guitar!
7th Grade
Eli DePriest
7th Grade Boys

My Name is Eli DePriest. I am currently apprenticing as a finish work carpenter for a company called Bruck Enterprises. I have lived in Colorado basically my entire life and graduated from Colorado Early Colleges. After High school, I decided to join the Mill City students team because I always loved youth group growing up myself. I always strive to be more like Jesus in everything that I do. Here is a list of some of my favorite things right now: disc golf, golf, skiing, theological discussions, listening to music, hanging out with the boys, worship, Phineas and Ferb. Probably the easiest way to strike up a conversation with me is to start talking about music… as long as we’re not talking about Taylor Swift.
Joshua Greene

Hi! My name is Josh Greene, I am 27 years old and have been a leader at MCS since 2022. I grew up in the church and have loved serving in youth ministry since high school. In my free tim,e I love to hike, camp, bike, and ski.
Hallie Sheridan

Hi!! My name is Hallie. I am 23 years old and currently a graduate student at CSU to gain my doctorate in occupational therapy. I am originally from Minnesota and did my undergrad in Eau Claire, WI. Along with schooling, I am involved in Mill City Kids, Students, and Young Adults. I will also be in Mill City’s 1st Year Apprenticeship this year and am excited to continue growing in my faith! Julia Zora
7th Grade Girls

My name is Julia Zora. I am in my second year of grad school at CSU, studying to get my occupational therapy doctorate. I am really passionate about pediatrics and want to continue to volunteer in the church with kids/youth ministry, as well as become a pediatric OT. I plan to be in Fort Collins for a few more years, hopefully permanently, after I graduate. I became a students leader at Mill City in July 2023 and have been with the same group of girls. From personal experience of going to youth group growing up and becoming a leader, I believe in the importance of youth ministry and pouring into students spiritually.
I am very outgoing, silly, and spontaneous, and I love to have a good conversation over some coffee. Most of my time, I nanny or study, but in my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, such as hiking, skiing, and playing pickleball. I also love orange cats.
Kaitlynn Zerr
7th Grade Girls

My name is Kaitlynn Zerr, and I live in Fort Collins with my husband Bryan, and our dog Lily! We met while going to school at UNCo. I studied Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality, and I now love my job as a wedding planner! Through college, I volunteered with the high school youth groups at my college and hometown churches, and had the opportunity to lead at summer camps and mission trips. When I was a high schooler, youth group was a transformative time that really solidified my faith in Jesus. The leaders that I had there left a lasting impact on me. They influenced me to seek out Jesus-community when I went away for college and showed me what it looked like to live for the Lord in adulthood. I am so psyched to have the opportunity to love on the kiddos at our church and give back to them what I received!
8th Grade
Nathan Gray
8th Grade Boys

My name is Nathan Gray. I help lead the 8th-grade boys (24-25 school year) with Bryan Zerr and Roarke Alvarado. I started with this group back when they were finishing 5th grade. I’m 22 years old, married, and living with my wife Julia in our apartment in Loveland. I’m working as a volunteer coordinator with a non-profit called Brothers Redevelopment based in Denver. I wanted to join the students team because I’ve learned and believe that having people who are older than you who invest in your life and spirituality can make an extreme difference and beneficial impact on someone’s trajectory. My mentor, Steve, was my small group leader years ago and did that for me. Since I started leading small groups when I was in 6th grade, that’s been my goal. I love playing music, my wife and I have a dog and cat, and I have five brothers and my parents close, who I see often. That kinda sums it up! I would love to take the opportunity to meet each of you or see you again for those I’ve already met!
Rourke Alvarado
8th Grade Boys

My name is Rourke Alvarado, and I am 19 years old. I am currently a sophomore at FRCC studying mechanical engineering with plans to transfer to CSU this fall, and I work part-time as a grounds worker for the Fort Collins parks Departments and a competitive Lego Robotics coach in the fall. I got pulled into Students by Grant when a spot opened up, and it is the highlight of my Wednesday! In my free time, I like to read, bike, build and add to my ever-growing Lego collection, and play sports when I can! I am a huge Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Marvel nerd, and I can talk about movies all day long!
Bryan Zerr

Hello! My name is Bryan Zerr, and I lead the 8th-grade boys. I’m currently an ER nurse and CrossFit coach here in Fort Collins. I’ve been married for three years to my best friend Kaitlynn, who is also a leader on students. I have worked for Camp Timberline and Young Life for a number of years and have always felt led to inspire the next generation and tell them about our incredible God. I love sports and working out, which makes relating to most of the boys pretty darn easy. I have a brother ten years younger and have always taken being a role model as a serious responsibility and opportunity. I’m very grateful to be part of your child’s life in this season.
Maryelle Kieffer
8th Grade Girls

Hi! My name is Maryelle Kieffer. I am originally from Arizona and am hoping to attend CSU next fall. I currently serve on the worship, kids, and student teams at Mill City. This year, I’ll be starting the first year apprenticeship, where I’m excited for the opportunity to continue learning and growing in my passion for ministry. I love spending time outdoors in nature, but when I’m not doing that, I love to read, paint, hang with the fam or mess around on piano/guitar and make music whenever I can.
Kathryn Hamer

I’m a student myself, currently studying for my Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies at Massey University, as well as studying Scottish Gaelic. I also work as a baker for Bread Fellow in Old Town, so if you’re in the market for handcrafted bread-based eats, make sure to stop by and say hello! My name is Caleb Howard, and I am 28 years old. I am currently working as a customer care rep for Lennar. I am passionate about youth ministry! Growing up my youth pastors made a huge impact on my life when I was in youth group. Growing up in the church, my relationship with God did not feel real until that age for me and I’m so grateful I had my youth pastors to guide me in that time. When the time came for me to serve at my church, I knew the exact space I wanted to be in. Students Of Course! In my spare time, I love to work out – big CrossFit guy! (Sorry not sorry) I also enjoy playing video games and watching movies. I also have a general knowledge of all things pop culture. Need help identifying the newest superhero or anime? I’m your guy! Virginia Chevalier
Sophomore Girls

Hi, I’m Virginia Chevalier, middle-aged mom of two (Will & Paisley), wife of one (Mike), a business owner and mortgage broker, a coffee lover, and a big fan of the great outdoors. I was born and raised in Denver and love that CSU is my alma mater. Our family found a home at MCC during the second week of gatherings, which also happened to be our son’s first birthday. We have had the privilege and joy of seeing this church and our Mill City family woven into the fabric of who we are and are becoming. A number of years ago, I attended Fall Camp as a parent helper, and a year later, I felt the Lord call me to join the student team, where I am 100% certain I am supposed to be. In my spare time (… and all the moms laughed) I enjoy time with friends & family, reading, being outdoors and all extra fun shenanigans.
Jessica Nielson
Sophomore Girls

Hi, I’m Jessica Nielson and I am a civil engineer working in land development in Northern Colorado. I’m originally from Montana, but I graduated from CSU in 2019 and loved Colorado so much that I stayed! I have loved getting to be a part of Students, as I think that investment in our kids and students is such an important opportunity that we can choose to opt in to by partnering with them in their faith journey (hopefully for a lifelong impact!). I also serve on Mill City’s Kids Team and have loved getting to connect with the full breadth of ages of our MCC youth! In my spare time, I enjoy pilates, pickleball, snow and water skiing, hiking, and spending time with close friends!
Alexis Templonuevo
Sophomore Girls

Hi there! I’m Alexis Templonuevo. I am a stay-at-home mom, and my husband is currently serving in the Air Force. I spend our days chasing around our very energetic and tender-hearted 2-year-old girl named Harana. Our family really enjoys spending time outside, eating great food, and taking mini-adventures around the new areas we find ourselves in. If I am not at home, you’ll usually find me running, hiking, working out with my Fit4mom community, or sharing a meal/adventure with friends. There is very little I will say no to when it comes to trying something new! I have a deep desire to serve in student ministries because I think the way we make an impact for the Kingdom is by equipping the next generation to be more like Jesus, and one day, they will be the leaders of my kids!
Megan Buyck
Sophomore Girls

My name is Megan Buyck, and I have been serving in student ministries since I was a high school student myself. My leaders at that time in my life greatly impacted my walk with God and encouraged me in who Christ has called me to be and I feel passionate about doing the same for young girls. I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 2021 where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Spanish Education, and I became a high school Spanish teacher for about a year. Although I loved getting to work with students and getting to teach them all about my passion for the Spanish language and culture. I have since then pursued a different passion of telling stories through film and I am now a wedding videographer. So, my life in this season looks like celebrating others on one of the most special days of their lives, getting to hang out at coffee shops while putting together those love stories, and on my weekends, you can catch me spending quality time with those I love, baking, adventuring to someplace new, playing pickleball or staying in to watch a favorite tv show!

Chloe Heckaman
Upperclassmen Girls

My name is Chloe Heckaman, and I have had the pleasure of serving on the Mill City Students team since 2017! I believe that the childhood and adolescent years are so crucial in the process of human development. They are the important years where having someone come alongside of you and be with you in the middle of the craziness feels especially meaningful. It is my goal and aim to be an older sister, friend, and cheerleader to our students as they navigate their walks with God, family, school, and the many joys and challenges that come along with this unique stage of life!
When I am not at students, you can find me baking away at The Little Bird Bakeshop, post up at a coffee shop studying for my master’s in clinical mental health counseling, or at the Costco food court eating a $1.50 hotdog combo meal!
