Partnership

One question that continuously drives and energizes the Mill City Kids team is, “How can we most effectively lead children (from 1 day old to 18 years old) at Mill City Church to be wholehearted Jesus followers?” After several years of working towards the answer to this question, we have identified an important piece: partnership.One question that continuously drives and energizes the Mill City Kids team is, “How can we most effectively lead children (from 1 day old to 18 years old) at Mill City Church to be wholehearted Jesus followers?” After several years of working towards the answer to this question, we have identified an important piece: partnership.

In recent years, sociologists have identified shifts among the leading influences in our children’s lives. It’s no surprise that social media has moved it’s way up; but one constant chart topper is you — Mom and Dad — and rightfully so! Not only did you bring this life into the world (I can hear my dad saying, “boy, I can take you out of it, too!”), but you are modeling life for your children. You get to do so many things together, like: eating, sharing car rides, cleaning the house, watching movies, fixing broken things, attending church, tucking them in at night, etc. Your time together adds up and results in you being a big influence in their lives.

We are also influences in our children’s lives when it comes to modeling for them how to follow Jesus. You may be thinking, “I am not the best person for this” or “I don’t have the bandwidth do this effectively.”  Psst! Pick us — we want to be your partner! We know you are busy with many other roles. We know your kids are not always listening to Mom and Dad and that kids need other people speaking into their lives. Between us, we can make a strong team.

This leads us to our next question, “How can we partner effectively with parents?” Here are a few of our ideas:

We can…

  • earn your trust by being responsible and excellent in everything we do;
  • build relationships with you (here’s a little secret — your children are not our only focus when we have gatherings);
  • communicate with you what we are teaching and doing;
  • offer you ideas that enable spiritual conversations;
  • honor your leadership amongst your children;

Our hope is that the longer you are engaged in the Mill City community, the better our efforts evolve towards partnership with you. So…pick us (we’re jumping up and down with our hand in the air)! These childhood years are too important, too impressionable, for us not to work together. We would LOVE to be on your team.
