Attending a new church can be an intimidating experience. Here’s some of what you can expect when you arrive at Mill City Church.
LOCATION: Every Sunday we rent space at the University Center for the Arts (UCA) to gather for worship at 9A and 11A. We have tried to make orienting to the building as easy as possible, but if you need anything lots of people will be available to answer your questions and help you find your way. Just look for the nametags!
PARKING: Plenty of parking is available on all four sides of the UCA. You can park on the street or the lots on the east side of the building. After you’ve parked, follow the Mill City Church signs to an entrance.
CHILDREN: Our kids are worth investing in and that’s why we’ve created a safe, clean and fun environment led by trained volunteers. Mill City Kids signs will direct you through the hallway where you will find our children’s check-in stations. Our helpful team will assist you as you relay some brief information about your kids and answer any questions you may have. Kids and parents will be directed to one of three classes where another volunteer will receive your child.
Here’s how we group our kids classrooms:
- 0-2yrs old
- 3yrs-kindergarten
- 1st-5th grade
- 6thgraders and up are invited to worship with their families in the main service
WORSHIP: Corporate worship is important to us because it reminds us that we are not alone and orients us toward the One who is worthy of all worship. We sing both modern worship songs and hymns and are attentive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. We also value rootedness, so we regularly incorporate historical liturgical elements such as Communion, the Nicene Creed and corporate prayers.
TEACHING: We think church should be a place where the Bible is unpacked in a life-giving and simple way. You’ll hear down to earth, honest and challenging teaching through books of the Bible as well as topical studies to dig deeper into a particular subject.
CONNECTION CARDS: If you’re a first-time guest, we invite you to fill out the Connection Card and drop it in the offering bucket at the end of the service. We simply want to send you an email or letter thanking you for coming and provide an avenue for further connection with Mill City.
CULTURE: We’re pretty relaxed around here. We want people to come as they are and find a place where they can be themselves and encounter God. For some, that will mean putting on their Sunday best. For others, that will be shorts and flip-flops. Whatever you wear, you’ll find people laughing and talking and genuinely sharing life together.
We look forward to meeting you. If you need answers to any other questions, please contact us at info@millcitychurch.org
Hope to see you Sunday!
